Pain Clinic: Seen as NHS patient, but this doesn’t make a difference to the standard of care received. Consultations are dealt with in half the time I have to allow for ‘mainstream’ NHS hospital appointments and cover twice as much ground.
Everything is carefully and fully explained. When the treatment doesn’t work (as my second epidural didn’t), this isn’t dismissed as a patient anomaly; the approach is ‘what can be done to make it work?’ Staff take a ‘handle with care’ approach so, for example, phlebotomy doesn’t end with the lump-and-mega-bruise ‘badge’ which seems to be the norm in too many other units. An exemplary team.
