"They make sure you get a bed straight ..."

About: Chesterfield Royal Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

They make sure you get a bed straight away when you go in. The initial checks and details taken are soon after getting in.

What could be improved

Information on what the care will be. Being told what will happen next.

Anything else?

I was taken to hospital with chest pain and vomiting. I was admitted to EMU where questions were asked and a heart tracing done. Blood was also taken then I was later taken to CDU and curtly told it wasn,t my heart. I got pain really bad in the night and was just given paracetamol. The pain didn,t go so I buzzed and got codeine. The pain got severe and I was told a doctor would see me. A doctor did not come until 2.20am and said they would get me something and they never came back. I was still in agony and another doctor came at 4.00am they just questioned me and then went away. Nothing was done. I was precribed a tranquillizer the next day and told there was nothing wrong with me. I was still sick and in pain but tried to eat. After visitng in the afternoon I was told to go home. My husband had gone to work and no one was available to take me home. I was told to ring him to pick me up. Of course he wasn,t at home. Then I was told to stay another night but I would be put on another ward. I texted my husband to tell him and he said he could fetch me after ten. I had to go home and was told no more tests. This is despite having gastric problems for a few months. I feel like I was treated like an idiot, the pain was proberly oesophagus spasm and I want it investgated. The hospital don,t want to do anything to help me and I felt like I was a bother to them. It really is like a factory where its person in person out. There is no proper care. I am now left with recurring pain, vomiting and eating difficulties and no follow up,tests or anything. Just left to suffer. How do I get better if the problem is not even investigated? I think it must be GORD but nothing is done so it will persist. How is anti depressants going to help that? Of course I am more stressed not getting it sorted out. Would,nt anyone be? I can,t even go out far because of it so can,t work or lead a normal life and no one wants to help me! Its time they took [people seriously and stopped fobbing them off
