"95 year old with a broken leg"

About: Heartlands Hospital

A 95 year old with a broken leg. waited 36Hrs before being operated upon. Upon visiting ( a round trip of some 200+ miles) I must say I was not too impressed, as she was somewhat confused as to her where abouts, I asked the ward sister about

Mums situation, only to be told " she is not my patient" and after I asked should there not be a chart or some record of

treatment, and food/drink intake etc. I was then told "her nurse is on a break"

Maybe my impression is wrong, but I did not get the impression the care being demonstrated, was not what I would have expected. I do appreciate the workload is very great but considering the great age of the lady, then a little more compassion would not go amiss, Please take a little time to ensure the older ones among us have paid their dues, and

should be given the dignity they surely deserve.

Dear South West John,

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback on your recent experience with your mum's admission. If you would like us to investigate this further please could I ask that you contact the Patient Services Team on 0121 424 0808 or by email bhs_trComplaints-ConcernsandCompliments@nhs.net and we would be happy to look into this for you.

Kind regards

Margaret Mitchell
