"CBT"

About: North West Boroughs Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust

(as the patient),

I was discharged from the IAPT yesterday because I could not engage in CBT.

I was referred to the IAPT by the Assessment Team but I did not know it was for CBT. I had already told the Assessment Team and the 5bp that I did not want to do CBT again because last time it left me extremely distressed and suicidal.

The IAPT told me to phone the Assessment Team if my mood got worse or if I felt suicidal and it is getting worse but I do not feel able to because of how they have treated me in the past.

I am sorry to hear that you felt unable to engage in CBT and that you continue to struggle with past experiences in terms of your contact with the Assessment Team. However, I can assure you that all members of the team are made aware of any and all service user comments, concerns and/or complaints and have taken learning from that feedback in order to make improvements. I am therefore confident that your experience would not be the same were you to contact them in the future.

Regards Cheryl Forrest, Matron, Mental Health Urgent Response Services.

I have been trying to phone the Assessment Team but have not been able to go through with it. I wish they were more understanding about how difficult it is.
