"Somewhat disrespectful staff"

About: Peterborough City Hospital

I visited A&E with a foot and leg injury that occurred the day before. I was unable to walk or put any weight in it at all, my mum had to assist to the waiting area and to the nurses room. Once I was called after a reasonable wait, I got into the nurses room with the help from my mum. I explained how I injured myself and that I haven't been able to put weight or pressure on the left foot. The nurse then starts asking where the pain was etc. The nurse then asked me to roll my trousers up which was very painful and again my mum helped me lift the trouser leg up, and the nurse said that there was nothing wrong with my arms and I should be rolling them up myself. Another nurse came in to help the other and they asked if I could lay on my stomach and lift my legs, the pain was unbearable and I constantly said you're really hurting me. I suffer from anxiety and depression, which they were fully aware of and I even showed them medication I was on. They refused to give me an X-ray, then said to walk, I couldn't walk in the first place. I then thought I was going to have a panic attack and they did not care in the slightest, they were talking at me with what came across aggressive. They gave me crutches and they said don't rely on them because they think I was "perfectly capable" to walk. Absolute shambles! They didn't listen to anything I had to say at all, waste of time!

I am so sorry that you have had a bad experience with the clerical staff. We are going to be implementing a new Customer Care Course that will target clerical staff so I will make sure your comments are fed in.

Once again my apologies

Regards

Lesley Crosby
