"Mum looked forward to the support, but it was not long enough"

About: Dementia Support Service

(as a carer),

Mum loved her time with Tracey her support worker and looked forward to spending time with her. Tracey was a warm, caring and cheery person who also helped me with any questions I had.

I also enjoyed the two hours respite every week.

The only downside I can see to this is that 12 weeks is not long enough.

Dear carer15

Thanks for making the time to tell us about your mums experience. Its great to hear that you feel your mum was so well supported by our staff.

I will check with the service but believe that twelve weeks is our standard support period but I realise everyone is different.

Hi Supported,

I checked with the service re your queries. They noted there is no set time limit for the service however it is a short term, outcome based service.

When the service receives a referral they consider the outcomes the service users wants to achieve and and strive to meet these within a specific time frame. There are times when outcomes are met quicker and therefore the piece of work is finished.

As you probably know the service is crucial to a lot of families therefore they aim to support as many as they can.

However, if there are any new outcomes identified - then please do not hesitate to re refer to the service.
