"Staff off home before 9pm"

About: Clacton Hospital

Having been advised by Harwich hospital to travel to Clactons minor injuries unit at 8.20 pm and knowing they were open until 9pm we arrived there at 8.57 to be greeted by the 2 members of staff leaving the building advising me that they were now closed and they were unable to help.

Having mentioned that i had travelled from Harwich and it was not even 9 pm they said their systems were now turned off and i should travel to Colchester.Given they both had their coats on and the system was shut down i would imagine some 5 minutes earlier i find this totally unacceptable.

When advising them i would take this further one just laughed when entering their car at 8.59.

I would like answers to this situation as their attitude also left a lot to be desired.

Thank you for your comment, we apologise that you have cause to complain about this service, which is run by Anglian Community Enterprise.

The MIU reviews the waiting list at 8.30pm and depending on the number of patients waiting may not book further patients in unless they have an acute injury. The doors are then shut at 9pm.

Unfortunately from your comment we are unable to clarify which date you attended the MIU so we are unable to comment. Please contact us on 0800 819 9030 to discuss your concerns further.
