"A&E,AMU,Florence Nightingale,Orsett and Marjory..."

About: Basildon University Hospital

My father died in the Marjory Warren ward on 3rd March 2016 after a yearlong battle with lung cancer. During his illness he was admitted to Basildon Hospital on four separate occasions via A&E due to treatment complications and, towards the end, with serious breathing difficulties. On each occasion he was admitted to a different ward; AMU East, Florence Nightingale, Orsett and Marjory Warren. The care he received from A&E and in each of the wards was, on the whole, excellent – the staff in these departments should be commended for their professionalism and dedication in the face of a media which only seems to focus on the negative reports and despite cuts in which funding has been reduced or diverted away from frontline services. The support that my father received from community services with oxygen and mobility equipment also requires praise. My family and I would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to all the nurses, medics, paramedics and doctors who cared for him on his admissions to the hospital or that were part of his cancer treatment.

Please accept our condolences on the sad loss of your Father.

Thank you so much for taking the time to write this lovely review of your experiences with your Father in various areas of Basildon & Thurrock University Hospitals.

This will be shared with staff in all departments mentioned.
