"Urgent Care Appaling!"

About: Queen Marys Hospital (Sidcup)

Took my son to urgent care on the 19th of February 2016 with a high temperature. Saw the nurse for pre checks and was made to feel like a paranoid mother after we saw the GP and again were made to feel paranoid. His chest was listened to and was told it was clear and no treatment was required as whatever was causing the temperature was probably viral. No other checks were done. The GP also said that it wasn't necessary to treat the fever with calpol etc if he were alert. I still continued to do so!

That evening at 6.30 he had a febrile convulsion due to the high temperature and was taken to the PRUH by ambulance were he had urine & blood tests and also a chest X Ray. His X Ray showed he had a chest infection and blood tests showed his infection makers were up and therefore did have a bacterial infection. He was then admitted to the children's ward. After 26 hours in hospital it was discovered he also had Tonsillitis and required a strong course of antibiotics to clear it, some of which were given by injection.

Don't ever take chances with children, it is always better to be safe than sorry! Will be avoiding like the plaque in future. The Doctors & Nurses at the PRUH were incredible, Queen Mary's not so much.
