I arrived here late evening - apparently just as the unit was closing.
Unable to stand properly, I was doubled over in excruciating abdominal pain. I'd been vomiting due to the intensity of the pain. Just as I came up to the door, assisted by my parents who had collected me from work, a nurse was leaving. And literally closed the door on my face. The assistance offered was a curt, 'You need to call the out of hours line'. I had of course done that two hours prior when the pain first began to get bad. They proceeded to their car, and that was that. Their job as a healthcare professional was done.
I was left standing hunched over, barely able to stand, as they then ignored me and my frantically worried parents.
Though I appreciate there may have been no one left to help (they did inform me of such, again rather curtly 'there's no doctors here, they've gone home. I don't know what you want us to do.') I am appalled that there wasn't even an ounce of human compassion on offer. I was treated like an utter nuisance.
I was shortly there after taken to QA where I was treated properly and have now recovered.
To be honest I find it shocking that someone could be treated with such contempt and lack of care on the door of a place designed to offer help.
I hope never to inconvenience the staff like that again.
