"40 week wait for appointment"

About: Medway Maritime Hospital / Cardiology

(as a relative),

My 83 year old father has been waiting 16 weeks for an appointment with a cardiologist. I phoned hospital today and was told the waiting list is 40, yes 40, weeks. Under NHS guidelines, patients are supposed to be seen within 18 weeks and have a plan in place for their care. What is going on at Medway Maritime Hospital? This is a huge failure of service and completely unacceptable.
