About: Sunderland Royal Hospital

Sent to a&e by gp with a promise that they would send a fax to tell them we were coming. Nothing here and we are sitting waiting in an 8ft square room not knowing what is happening while more and more people squeeze in. No dignity or respect. Absolutely appalling

Please accept our apologies for any distress caused during your recent attendance at the Emergency Department.

We do appreciate that the temporary waiting area is not ideal however you will understand how difficult it is to build a new department whilst still providing a service on a busy hospital site.

We are grateful for your feedback and are continually reviewing patients' comments so we can try and make improvements where we can.
