After struggling with pain in my hip for several months recently I decided to see my GP who then referred me to a physiotherapist. On the very first physio visit I wish I'd gone sooner! First of all, he listened very patiently - I also have a previous brain injury which sometimes causes me problems explaining the pain details in words.
Alex (physio) then not only explained the reasons why I was having the pain (trochanteric bursitis? ! ) in simple terms but he showed me several exercises to work on at home & gave me advice I'll remember forever. He then attentively massaged away the immediate pain (and several other lesser painful 'knotted muscles' in my back) which immediately left me feeling able to move freely and much more comfortable than I had been in weeks!
Alex's patient manner and his re-assurance whenever I was not sure of myself gave me the confidence to attempt the exercises, with his guidance. And as I continued to do these exercises at home I've gained more strength and also more confidence in myself than I've had in the last 5 years since I was diagnosed with a life-changing condition. Unfortunately my hip pain still comes & goes but I know what to do about it now. I feel so fortunate to have met this physio over the last few weeks. He is a real credit to the NHS. Good Luck Alex, wherever your future lies ~ it's your last day there tomorrow! THANK YOU SO MUCH for all your help: )
