"Social Inclusion and Wellbeing Service"

About: Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust / Adult Mental Health Services - Community (County)

(as a volunteer/advocate),

I wasn't going out. I have Social Anxiety. I was referred to the Social Inclusion and Wellbeing Service by my psychiatrist. The service is excellent. They keep an eye on you, phone you up, suggest things and encourage you to go out. The support is good.

I wanted to do some voluntary work. Sangita came and told me about the service. She asked me what my interests were, hobbies. I filled in some forms to help me decide. She came back every week to see how I was progressing. Kerisa supported me. We went on the trams and went swimming. When I was ready, we visited St George's Centre. There were courses and groups. I may join a support group. Sangita recently came with me to some Charity Shops and we picked up some application forms. I filled in the forms for 2 shops and dropped them in. I didn't hear, so I rang the Children's Society and they asked me to go in. Kerisa came with me and stayed for about an hour. The morning went ok, and Kerisa rang in the afternoon to check it had gone ok. That was really nice. I just do a Monday morning, sorting clothes, steaming and putting things out on the shopfloor.

It has made a big difference to my life. You have the support. If you have any problems, you can call them.

It would be good if it was more accessible to people. I had to be referred by my psychiatrist. It is an excellent service. They explained the Social Care system and supported me to access it. They are good at advice and information. Nice staff.

Dear Georgina1

Thank you for your posting and sharing your experience with the Social Inclusion Team.

It is wonderful to hear that the service has been able to support you in a positive way. One of the teams aims is to help people access opportunities, achieve thier goals and gain a sense of well being. I will pass on your kind words and positive comments to Sangita and Kerisa.

I hope you continue to enjoy your volunteering and I wish you well in the future

Kind Regards

Julie
