What I liked
Within the space of a month both my daughter and myself were in patients with quite different experiences. The childrens unit (inc Sennen Ward) is without doubt the gem of RCHT. Both Nursing and Medical teams alike, no matter how busy, put the patient first and provide individualised, holistic EXCELLENT care. As parents we could not have been more grateful.
However.. the ward I was admitted on myself was a perfect example of how not to nurse. Although stretched with an obvious heavy work load (of which as patients we were constantly reminded) this is not an excuse to treat patients as a nuisance. Compassion is needed, It is not the fault of the patient that the ward is short staffed or has inappropriate admissions. Please be mindful of the patient's needs and consequential experience.
What could be improved
To address a patient by their name.. not she/he/they whilst they are sat in front of you.
