"Well done St Albans General - this is how it..."

About: St Albans City Hospital

I was referred to St Albans General for a Colposcopy.

Within 5 minutes of checking in at the reception I was invited into the Colposcopy room by the Dr and 2 nurses, who also permitted my sister to come and join us.

They all introduced themselves and the Dr shook my hand.

After asking a few routine questions I was told about my procedure and asked if I had any questions.

I was then invited to prepare for the procedure behind a curtain in the room and handed a "modesty" cover to use during the examination.

The nurses positioned me and when I was ready the Dr talked through what they were doing and what they found, whilst my sister and I viewed a live video cam of what was going on.

I was put totally at my ease and we even had a few laughs!

When everything was finished I was invited back behind the curtain to re-dress and following our goodbyes were on our way home.

Everybody we spoke to was professional and polite - a shining example of how good the NHS can be.
