"Sensationally good care"

About: North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust Penrith Hospital

(as the patient),

I live in an isolated ex-farm house and collapsed with a massive heart attack. The speed and skill of services were stunning, from the doctor who fought to keep me alive, the police car crew who got me to a waiting ambulance half a mile away on the A66, the ambulance crew and paramedics who rushed me safely 25 miles to Carlisle Hospital and major surgery, the surgeon flown in by helicopter from Dumfries to operate as soon as I arrived. All this was sensationally good and the post operative (including intensive) care at both Carlisle and Penrith hospitals has been exemplary. My profoundest thanks to all involved.

Thank you for your thoughtful comments regarding the care and attention you received from Penrith Hospital.

It is extremely gratifying to receive comments such as yours and it is a tribute to the caring concern and skill of the individual members of staff who work both on and off the ward, and I know they will appreciate them.

I have also forwarded your comments on to the General Manager of Penrith Hospital so that they can be shared with the staff.

Once again, thank you for taking the time to write to us.
