"Gastroscopy procedure"

About: Lister Hospital

I attended the Endoscopy Dept for a Gastroscopy on 10 February.

I must be honest I was extremely nervous as I know it can be uncomfortable.

I arrived at 3.30pm and was finally called in at 4.30pm.

The attending nurse was very nice and welcoming.

I was prepared for the procedure by which time my knees were knocking!

The nurse took me through, and all the way through the procedure they were stroking my hair and reassuring me - how lovely is that?

Afterwards they got me a cup of tea and some biscuits which were very welcome.

I think it was that nurse's excellent bedside manner that helped me through, and I say thank you.

One tiny negative is that my appointment was at 3.30pm, but I did not see anyone until 4.30pm, by which time the receptionist had put down the shutters and gone home!

You always worry that you have been forgotten, don't you?

I wasn't the only one who felt this.

Overall it was a positive experience and I was treated well.

Many thanks for the feedback, which we have just sent across to the endoscopy team at the Lister.

We know they will enjoy reading your comments (as well as noting your observation about the clinic closing up and how that was handled!).
