"Childrens emergency department"

About: Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust - Queen's Medical Centre Campus / Accident and emergency

(as a parent/guardian),

My baby son had an incarcerated hernia. When we were arrived at ED on 6th Feb we were seen immediately by a great nurse who then called a doctor straight away and treated. Other parents were complaining about waiting times, but I felt that our experience demonstrated that if you are required to be seen urgently then they do make sure it happens.

We appreciate that too many patients are waiting longer for treatment in our Emergency Department than we would wish due to the current pressure on our emergency services. We are sorry for this and working hard to deliver the timeliest possible care. Notwithstanding the present pressures, it is good to receive positive feedback like this to share with our staff who continue to do the best possible job for patients very often challenging circumstances.

My best wishes to you and your baby son

Lucy Thow,

Matron, ED
