Gastroenterologist told me - my B12 levels are not low enough for symptoms, H pylori has nothing to do with B12 deficiency and is a bacteria we have and is harmless, I may have IBD but they were not sure what test to do as they did not want to do a colonoscopy - I had to tell them to do the calprotectin stool test. I felt they had no intention of carrying out any tests despite occupational health having requested the appointment. The doctor also told me that I can stop the vitamin D supplements. My GP tested me for H pylori and said it would need treating if I had it and told me I need the vitamin D for life as my levels were so low in the summer.

Haematology - They told my GP that I need 3 weeks of loading doses of B12 injections and any remaining symptoms are not due to B12 deficiency - guidelines state review at 3 weeks but they made this decision before I started the 3 weeks of injections. Guidelines also state injections every other day until no further improvement. My symptoms are due to nerve damage and may take time to heal and some may be irreversible so symptoms can remain beyond 3 weeks. I was referred to haematology on November 12th 2015, the surgery chased up my referral 3 times. On 9th February I chased it up myself (after the GP told me to) and was told my letter had been missed and they did not know why and it would be bought to the consultant's attention.

I rang again on 16th February as I still had not heard and was told a letter had not gone to my GP. My GP has now made an appointment to discuss the letter with me in 3 weeks time, so I assume the haematologist has refused to see me. Waiting this long without any correspondence is unacceptable.
