"A & E reception very unfriendly"

About: Northampton General Hospital NHS Trust

When patients attend A & E they are likely to be in pain, nervous and feeling vulnerable.

Therefore, I would expect the reception staff to be helpful, caring and welcoming.

This was not the case when I visited today.

The receptionist was abrupt, uncaring and unwelcoming

I felt as if I was unimportant and almost a nuisance.

The department was not busy, so their attitude could not be attributed to work overload.

We always do our best to reassure patients who attend at A&E as we understand they may be in pain, nervous and feeling vulnerable.

We are sorry that, on this occasion, you felt our reception staff were uncaring and unwelcoming.

We will certainly make sure your comments are passed on to the team in A&E so that they are aware and can ensure your concerns are addressed.
