"Double heart bypass and a replacement heart valve"

About: Derriford Hospital

As a 75 year old whose only other time in hospital was as an eight year old to have my tonsils removed, I had no idea what to expect on entering Derriford Hospital.

My operation was on 18th January 2016 and I was discharged on 25th January.

Obviously I do not remember the first couple of days but I do remember the rest.

I could not fault the attention I received from all the sections, starting at the High Dependancy Unit on through Clearbrook ward until I was discharged.

All the staff, from the surgeon and team, to the nursing staff and the housekeeping teams on my journey were helpful, kind and cheerful.

I must say to anyone who finds they are in need of the type of surgery I had, Derriford Hospital is the place to be, you will be looked after.
