"I was having obvious complications ..."

About: Queen's Hospital (Romford)

(as the patient),

What could be improved

I was having obvious complications with the birth of my daughter and was in agony. A male student was sent in to observe whilst I was scared, in pain and undignified. I refused. This was met with dissaproval. This was highly insensitive. dispite my begging it took over 4 hours to receive an epidura;. The anesthetist inserted the epidural dangerously incorrectly, shouted at me and left it that way for 2 hours. It was generally considered that my pelvis was big enough to give birth naturally by judging the size of my feet, (even though NICE guidelines advises against this practice as a diagnosis). When my daughter nearly died an emergency C-section was decided on after an uneccessarily long, agonising and fearful labour. I was diagnosed at the operation with CPD, (pelvis too small). As I was voilently contracting due to the induction, I lost a lot of blood. I also felt pain during the operation. The after care from the midwives was also unexceptable. I was told off for asking for painkillers. The help with breastfeeding consisted of shoving my baby to my breast until she was distressed. I went home with the wire still left in my wound.

Anything else?

I am due for an elective C-section next week. The consultant wanted it done this week, as my baby is even bigger that last time and measuring large for dates. I have had 2 false starts to labour and painful braxton hicks. My consultant does not want me to go into labour before the operation. I have been turned down for a scheduled C-section for when my consultant wanted it because I do not fit into the Matron's schedule. I am now very scared about going into labour before the date and distressed that I may have another emergency C-section. I also am wondering if which ever consultant is working on the day will stupidly suggest a progression of labour and VABAC as another consultant told me that this could happen. I am very distressed by all of this.
