I called 999 and in minutes a first responder arrived and administered oxygen and commence treatment. Minutes later an ambulance from EMAS arrived and paramedics continued the good work. They took my wife to A&E and then wheeled her straight to the stroke unit. By the time I arrived my wife had already had a brain scan and treatment had started to stop the stroke progressing further and commence the healing process. She received excellent care whilst in hospital. A week later she developed a reaction to medication causing her tongue and throat to swell. 999 again led to swift reply, admissiion to A&E and excellent treatment including at the MEAU Unit.
