"My mother who has advanced dementia ..."

About: Broomfield Hospital

(as a relative),

What I liked

My mother who has advanced dementia was admitted to the Medical Emergency Ward recently and spent 3 days in the care of some of the most compassionate and caring staff I have ever met. She was treated with dignity and respect by all and that includes all staff, including doctors, nurses, porters, ward clerks, cleaners and domestics. Her room was spotlessly clean, as was the rest of the ward.

What could be improved

The car park fees are excessive, especially if you have to stay all day.

Anything else?

My mum has been in and out of hospital for three years and up to the end of last year came under the Basildon Hospital area and the whole family used to dread her stays there. She now comes under Broomfield and this was our first experience at the hospital - and what a difference. Despite her being in an emergency area there was a sense of calm and order. Such a relief and so reassuring to all. Excellent standards to which other local hospitals must aspire.
