"Absolutely ineffective but probably well meaning"

A note that I can't remember the exact month I had an appointment with them, so it might not be entirely accurate, I've just received my letter months after the appointment.

I'll start with the positives, because there are some. I was referred here (it took several months, but that was nobody's fault) after a suicide attempt, chronic depression, and several other issues I can't categorise. The nurse was once of the best I've ever seen, period. Friendly, responded with empathy and was good at putting me at ease.

Unfortunately, it's clear I was not listened to. I've gotten my follow up letter (despite reassurances it would take two weeks, it took several months) suggesting things that I've already tried and I mentioned in the appointment I already tried, which was disheartening and incredibly patronising. It was recommended I try CBT (I tried 4 years of it! This is especially insulting because when the nurse asked me if there was anything I wanted to add, I said no recommendations of CBT because I've been through a lot of it and been recommended it over and over again by people who don't listen to me when I said I've already had it and was tired of having to fight my corner on that regard), ask my GP about antidepressants (how? I've already tried three which didn't help, so my GP doesn't want to prescribe them anymore, saying they don't feel qualified), go to the university counselling service (I have, it didn't help) and go to the autism service (they know I believe my Asperger's to be a misdiagnosis and, even if it isn't, experience absolutely no impairment from it so this was just twisting the knife). It's clear they are tossing me aside with no care (they know CBT doesn't work and I can't get antidepressants).

There was a potentially helpful suggestion in there of getting my thyroid checked, which I hadn't considered and will follow up on, so whilst most of it was entirely useless some wasn't. They also said they wanted my ADHD testing to go through before I saw a psychiatrist, which is reasonable, but I'm worried that with the waiting times, that will probably take more than a year.

Overall, I can't recommend this service to anyone. This was a last resort after being desperate for a long time. I can't describe how it feels to have been in the mental health system for 8 years, finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel, then being met with patronising and insulting suggestions by people who clearly haven't bothered to listen to you.
