"Every facility was available and ..."

About: Hull Royal Infirmary

(as the patient),

What I liked

Every facility was available and used promptly: consultation, ct scan, x-ray.

The staff were great and deserve a medal for having to deal with some of the fearful fellow patients. Shouting, swearing, or just being obstreperous, or using a threatening manner.

The wards seemed full, yet the care was personal and reassuring. However, how can a patient get well with the poor food offered?

What could be improved

Food: how can a patient get well with the poor food offered? Lacking fibre!!

One person needs training on how to inserting a catheter.

Anything else?

Security guards to be more visible at assessment and admission.

Dear Rob Russell Many thanks for placing your posting on the Patient Opinion website. We are sorry for the delay in responding and should like to thank you for your very positive comments about your care in hospital. It is always a pleasure to receive such comments and we will ensure that the staff concerned are made aware of these. We shall also pass on your comments about the food and the catheter training to the Hull and East Yorkshire Hospitals Trust, but if you would care to contact their Patient Advice and Liaison Service to discuss this in more detail, you would be very welcome to do so, either by telephone on (01482) 623065, by email or in person at Hull Royal Infirmary. NHS Hull is the organisation responsible for deciding how money is spent on local health services [also known as commissioning], ensuring those services are of high quality and meet local needs. We value all feedback and if you would like to discuss this matter further with us, please do not hesitate to contact our Patient Advice & Liaison Service on 01482 335409 or by email. If you would like to become more involved in decisions about local healthcare, all local health Trusts are recruiting ‘members’. By becoming a member you can receive advice on keeping yourself and your family healthy, find out more about your local NHS and help us improve local services. You don’t need any special skills or experience to become a member, you just need an interest in local health services. There is no commitment, you can get involved as much or as little as you choose. For more information please either email or telephone 01482 675165. Thank you once again for taking the time to provide us with your views on local services.
