Having to make an emergency dash to Kingston A&E where my son and carer were waiting I found that the parking regulations were different from what I remembered. It was nearly dark and I looked at the board to try and work out how to pay now. I struggled to work out what to do, went to the pay machine desperately searching for some coins. Another lady ran up, almost in tears saying she had a son in A&E and how ridiculous this new system was and now she was worrying about getting a ticket as well as worrying about her son and she wasn't sure that she had understood the instructions properly.
I had limited coins but saw the machine didn't take cards, there were things about Apps and phoning but frankly I was not in a state to take it on board and wouldn't now how to download an app anyhow. In the dark trying to key in my registration (which I had to run back to check) it was incredibly difficult to see the tiny keypad (I am not old) It caused me more worry than I already had, needed to borrow some money from my son's carer to top up machine later that evening.
This is not a shopping mall or leisure complex it is a hospital, people arrive who need to park quickly by the easiest means possible. This is not it... Why on earth don't you have a simple to understand pay on exit for the amount of time you are there with a machine that excepts coins and cards. An increasingly elderly population will not be downloading apps to pay for parking. This system is totally unhelpful for your patients.
