"Wheelchair Services"

About: Woodend Hospital

(as a relative),

Excellent care from all involved. Always have a smile on their faces, thanks especially to Lisa and Ruth who saw my husband in the clinic and put all of my and his worries at ease. Also thanks to Ester the receptionist who was very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed, even though her phone never stopped ringing. Also the technician who adjusted my husbands wheelchair (unfortunately I didn't catch his name), and the young man who sits with Ester who helped me with directions (I think his name was Michael? ).

The only negative thing we have ever experienced in the wheelchair service is the environment. The reception area is not welcoming at all, however the staff always do their best to make you feel at ease. It is very dark in the waiting room and I found it hard to read due to my sight problems (there is no TV or anything else to keep people occupied whilst they wait).

Thanks again to all that helped me and my husband, his new wheelchair is a lifeline to us both.

Dear patient

Apologies for the delay in responding. I did respond a few days ago but must have failed to hit the send button. No excuse really, I should have checked.

Let me first thank you for the kind comments about our wheelchair service. Staff will be much gladdened to hear what a difference they have made to your lives. You desrribe beautifully how we would like all our services to be.

Thank you also for your helpful suggestions about the waiting area. I am sure something can be done to better the environment.

Once again, apologies for the delay in responding, my fault entirely. I hope you continue to enjoy your "lifeline" and thank you so much for taking the time to post your feedback.

Hello again!

Jon Taylor, Service Manager, has asked me to provide the following response on behalf of the Wheelchair Service:

Thank you for your feedback, I have shared this with our team and they are delighted to hear your thoughtful comments. We hope your husband is doing well and that the adjustments continue to meet his needs.

We would share your thoughts on our waiting area and although we plan to not keep people waiting we appreciate when this does happen it is not the most stimulating of environments.

As a team we will be discussing what we would like to offer in the waiting areas and will also provide a suggestion box in the waiting area to get some feedback from others who use the facilities as to what enhancements they would like to see.

Hopefully we can identify some positive changes to improve the environment.

Thank you again for your feedback – this is greatly appreciated.

Thanks, burrowes49, for using Patient Opinion to share this feedback which has obviously stimulated a bit of thinking! That's what it's all about!.

Jon, as well as, or instead of a suggestion box, you could always encourage people to give you their feedback and suggestions via Patient Opinion - less time consuming perhaps? We have a flyer you can use to request specific feedback. I will send this onto Linda Oldroyd. Hope that helps and look forward to hearing about the changes you've made.

All the best

Gina
