I was visiting an elderly relative of mine who was in RF for a minor infection.After being in hospital for 8 weeks she has become so fragile she is unable to go home.I had 2 major experiences that I feel that i must share,at least so that it doesnt happen to someone else.After 1 week of complaining to staff about being cold(she was in isolation for infection)and noone attending,I went to the nurse and asked what could be done. They promptly came in and switched the thermostat on the wall up a notch!! I was shocked how she could be neglected for this long???On another occasion,after she had been in isolation for 2 half weeks she was desperate to move onto a ward so she could chat with other people.I was told by the nurse that as there wasnt enough beds she had to wait.A week later after i saw her state deteriorate I asked again that she be moved.Only to be told by the doctor she just needed a final test to see her infection was clear and she could move. They told me they couldnt have moved her anyway previous week.Communication between hospital (when she fell over )and her daughter was too long in coming.My list goes on....To be honest I would rather come down in person to speak with someone at the RF to discuss these matters.These are stories from a third world country hospital.Not a well renown London hospital in 2010.I await to hear from you.Debra
