"Funding not available for my operation"

About: Kettering General Hospital / Trauma and orthopaedics University Hospital (Coventry) / Trauma and orthopaedics

(as the patient),

I have suffered for many years, 10 in fact, I’ve been pushed from pillar to post for years with no joy. This has been from my own GP to orthopaedic surgeons in Kettering, with what I feel has been no real diagnosis. Eventually I changed doctors at my surgery and it was him who suspected femoral acetabular impingement. I was then referred to a consultant. I waited around 18 months to see him, when I saw him I was speechless when he said he could help with an arthroscopy. Finally I felt I was getting sorted. Then to my amazement I got a phone call from Coventry hospital saying the NHS couldn’t fund this. I was gob smacked; finally someone could cure me but wasn’t allowed. How can they do this? I’ve just received a letter saying they can’t do any more and are referring me back to Kettering. In other words, I feel as if I am back to square one. I take loads of medication which includes morphine on a daily basis just to get through the day. I’ve used crutches for years and now have problems with my shoulders because of this. I feel there just seems to be no end. How can they justify this?
