Given that the website for the Minir Injuries Unit specifically states that no appointment is required and that the doctors treat people with cuts, scrapes and sprains, I headed for the MIU a couple of Saturdays ago after being scratched by a cat and the scratch becoming badly ulcerated.
On arrival, I was advised by the receptionist that this was not a walk in clinic and that I should have made an appointment via the 111 service. It was Saturday night, there were many, many places I would rather be and yet I was made to feel like an utter time waster in front of the entire waiting room. Luckily, they advised me they'd make an allowance "this time" and I was seen a short while later by the more efficient hospital doctor I've ever met. I was informed by said doctor that I had done absolutely the right thing, as I needed a strong course of antibiotics straight away.
Great service from the medics, but the receptionist needs to get off whichever power trip they're on.
