"I visited the Dermatology/Rheumatology ..."

About: Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

I visited the Dermatology/Rheumatology area last week for a specialist consult about chronic uriticaria. I was greeted by not a secretary but one of the doctors; apparently, due to the snow, no secretaries had shown up! This made me like the department immediately - any doctor who will do secretarial work when necessary is first rate in my book. I was about 20 minutes early for my appointment, and rather than having to wait around, I was seen promptly. The doctor I saw was not the one I expected (but it was only a history-taking/blood-taking appointment anyway), but they was very friendly, let me babble on about my condition, and was very helpful. I also visited Phlebotomy West, was seen promptly, and even got the persons there taking blood to laugh at my jokes! As an international student in Norwich doing a PhD, I'm happy that such a high-quality and friendly hospital is so close.

What could be improved

It's completely cosmetic - but must the waiting areas all look like airplane terminals? The secondary areas are fine, but the primary waiting areas are a bit... well... off-putting.

Thanks for the feedback. Glad to hear staff were helpful, friendly and had a sense of humour. We are constantly refurbishing areas of the hospital and aim to make them a bit more stimulating but those areas have not been done yet. Good luck with your postgrad studies.
