"Well, that was unexpected..."

The Medway area isn't known to be charming; but that's exactly the experience I had today. Now, the administrative staff might seem moody, but c'mon, their jobs kinda suck so that's expected... What surprised me was in fact the nurse I was seen by. They were amazing in comparison to most I've been seen by elsewhere (as was their companion, and two other nurses is spoken with during my stay); the staff here are not cold, nor are they rude from my experience (and as my treatment is routine and my referral to a more permanent area has not borne results, I'm hopeful I'll see the same members of staff again !); I was not left unattended for any great lengths of time, any small complications were fully explained to me and understandable, and the main nurse treating me made me feel completely comfortable; through periods of waiting there was no awkward small talk, but conversations you'd expect with a new friend. Okay, enough gushing: from my experience staff here are attentive, not discriminatory in any way (e.g.: transgender, young, old, homosexual, etc. accepting), and are only content when you're content (e.g.: they won't rush you through a process, they'll make sure you're happy with decisions and treatments, etc.). Now, of course I don't want to say things along the line of "if you live between this hospital and another, come to Medway Maritime !", but I'm not sure if that's because I don't want them being overloaded... Or if I'm being selfish, ahaa. It's a pity I can't mention names (as this comment would never be published), because dang, some of the staff really deserve attention... (Is there such a thing as a medical professional of the year award ?). Bottom line: I've had better experienced here than I've had at any other hospital; that includes UCLH !
