"Rowan Ward"

About: Hull Royal Infirmary

I went in to be induced on 15th December! Excellent staff and care on Maple ward. However I was ready for labour but was on a 24 hour waiting list to go onto the labour ward by the time I got onto labour ward I was rushed for an emergency C-section due to heartbeat dropping and eventually stopping. After 2 minutes after birth my little girl began to breathe. Was put on the Rowan ward into my own private room - all was okay until my partner had to leave at 9 and I was left to defend for myself when I couldn't even sit up. I was in agony and had to keep asking for my pain releif which was due and I received it 7 hours later. My catheter was not emptied once leaving me with a UTI. I was made to feel like a horrible person whenever I asked for help with my daughter, I wanted to do everything but physically couldn't as was very very sore. I was left with no dignity as it was and they just made it worse. The reception desk was close by and couldn't sleep for 2 days as hearing the staff talk about patients in a not so very nice manner and walking into my room every 5 minutes without knocking was the cause for no sleep which I found dangerous as was finding myself falling asleep with my baby in my arms. I asked if a member of staff could do my daughters bottle as couldn't get out of bed but was told I should be doing it myself but I couldn't so had to get my partner to come back at 7am as my daughter was screaming and crying and nobody would help me. The way the staff made me feel on this ward is disgusting and I would not recommend to anybody. considering it's supposed to be a special time, it was completely ruined for me.
