NHS waiting list was too long so I was offered an appoitnment in this 'Private' hospital for my esophagogastroduodenoscopy.
Nurses did not concentrate on what they were being told, aghast that I did not know my weight, put the wrong name on my wristband.
I was put in a room and told to get into my hospital gown.
I waited for over an hour on my own with no contact from any staff in a very cold, unheated room without any window to see out, no toilet facilities, nothing to read to keep me occupied, no TV or radio just checking my watch!
Finally I ventured out to ask what was going on - I was told that the consultant was very late by a very unsympathetic Nurse.
I should have been told this earlier.
I returned to my room still cold, bored & frustrated - no update.
I finally got dressed, found a nurse & said I would go home.
Eventually, a manager came to see me and apologised - finally it was time some hour & a half late to have my minor procedure.
I was taken to surgery without any prior conversation with the consultant about the problems I was having, they only spoke to me during the procedure which is very uncomfortable so I could not concentrate on what they were saying. Following the procedure I was given my discharge letter without having had any opportunity to talk to the consultant about their findings.
I am a Paramedic myself and have never come across such unsympathetic treatment by any medical personnel within the NHS.
I was treated with a total lack of respect or interest by all at this hospital.
I have absolutely no faith in the final diagnosis and I am really non the wiser about my condition.
It is appalling that NHS funding is being used to pay this hospital for private service.
