"i only hope people with cancer receive better"

About: Pinderfields General Hospital

Having found a lump i went to breast clinic, my first visit doctors and nurses were very good and understanding of my difficulties with being examined. subsequent visits have been awful the last two being the worst i was seen by a doctor who didn't bother to introduce themself, couldn't be bothered to look at my list of medication saying they didn't need to know what i was taking just why, when i said it tells you next to each one, they still didn't take the list. I was sent for a scan the radiographer and nurse were fantastic they found a cyst which the radiographer said could be drained. after discussion i went back to doctor who said you refused draining i tried to explain why but they weren't interested, giving the nurse a look of disgust

They asked if i was happy to get antibiotics from my GP i said yes not realising what a mistake this would be. on contacting my GP i was told they couldn't prescribe without something from the doctor i couldn't tell them the name of the person i saw so i was advised to ring trinity care. pointless after two days of trying and not getting through i went back to the breast clinic to be asked did i think i still needed them to be told the doctor wasn't happy to prescribe without seeing me and there wasn't much point as id refused draining so infection would still be there i was given a letter from appointment advising antibiotics and told if GP couldn't do it they would sort it out at my next appointment i never managed to sort out. the antibiotics and my next appointment was the worst of the lot. i was taken in to a room to undress, doctor never introduced although they knew my name after examining me they said i refused draining i explained i had been told it could make it worse, they said it shouldn't how do you feel about it but never gave me chance to answer. They said they were discharging me and disappeared.

the nurse then rushed me to get dressed and was picking my feet up to put them on my foot plates before i was even in my chair properly. Their main gold was to get me out of the door as quick as possible. i was left feeling if they could have lined people up they would have i had to go to toilet to re-dress so i was comfortable. apart from the very first appointment i have never been asked if i have any questions or given time to raise any i realise the clinics were behind but you don't need to here the word cancer to have questions or find the process traumatic. this trust want to stop wasting money on fancy signs telling us what they are aiming for and concentrate on frontline staff they make a person centered service not tick boxes and fancy signs

We would be pleased to arrange for this experience to be investigated if the patient would like to contact us directly.
