What I liked
After admission as a Day Case patient I had to be kept in overnight, when empty beds were hard to find! Although the night nurses on Chuter Ede ward, where I stayed, were very busy with this full house, the whole team of nurses was fantastic. I had a crisis in the night and they responded immediately with wonderfully co-ordinated care that restored me to a stable condition very quickly. I felt in very safe hands and am very grateful for all their excellent nursing care.
The next day was very snowy and my friends could not reach the hospital to help me home. One of the staff nurses went to great trouble to help me in every detail (and there was a lot to do!) and was wonderfully supportive in a very holistic way.
What could be improved
Cleanliness of ward and bathroom
Anything else?
Please can you let the Catering Manager know that there was no gluten-free option on the menu which I could choose to sustain my need for this diet to correct coeliac disease, nor did any of the alternatives show a suitability for a gluten-free diet, which is a medically necessary option for some patients.
