I was admitted to the first assessment unit on referral by my GP with a potential diagnosis of Erysipelas. The were very busy, and my triage screening was carried out by a fifth year medical student. To take blood, they omitted to wear gloves. They had several attempts to find a vein (no-one else has failed). They then couldn't work out how to open a swab container, and the care assistant had to show them how to do it. I think I would have done the job better myself (I have a little veterinary training).
The ward as very busy, and no-one semed that interested in me. I was eventually taken to a geriatric ward (I'm an active 72yo) which was very depressing. As I wasn't on their main list, I nearly didn't get any food, and eventually was given basic rations intended from the last patient who occupied the bed.
Hesitate to be referred again.
