"Reception at a&e"

About: Northwick Park Hospital

I had an emergency situation because of my gallbladder and after getting to the A&E we went to receptionist. They asked me what am I doing there and told them that I suffer from serious pain. The receptionist looked at me in such a manner like I was some disgusting creature and said what do u think, u can abuse NHS? U should go to your doctor. I was shocked by their attitude. But after all finally a nurse called me in and they helped me after, but that receptionist shouldn't even be there...

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback about your recent visit to the A&E department at Northwick Park hospital.

I was very sorry to learn of the manner in which you were welcomed to the department when you first presented to the reception desk.

This is of course not the sort of service we would expect from our staff and I am very sorry for any added distress this caused at was already a very stressful time for you.

If you would like us to look into this further for you then please contact the Patient Relations team at LNWH-tr.patientrelations@nhs.net.

We will in the meantime ensure the A&E management team are made aware of your experience so that this can be addressed with the reception team as a whole.

Kind regards

Patient Relations Team
