"Left waiting in corridor with 'undesirables' at Rotherham District General"

About: Rotherham Hospital

(as the patient),

A man in my care went to RDGH A&E for a medical problem. It would have been much better for him to have his own area to sit in as he was not feeling well and was sat in an area with noises and loud people who had to be removed by security. We sat in the corridor where people were passing including undesirables, i.e. drug addicts and also drunken people, shouting and wanting attention.

When you are feeling poorly you do not want to be sat in a corridor waiting for blood results to come back, which took 1 1/2 hours before the doctor could let us know the results.

Thank you for taking the time to post your comments. We take all comments seriously in A&E and are constantly looking to improve the patient experience. I can sympathise with your experience and would welcome the chance to speak with you in order to investigate your concerns thoroughly. Please contact Rose Davis, Matron on A&E.
