I had a very contrasting experience at RVI. I was admitted for a routine hernia repair,unfortunately the surgeon perforated my bowel in two places. This was not noticed at time of surgery and as a result i had emergency surgery 2 days later. I had severe peritonitis. What was expected to be a one night stay became an eight week stay. My second surgery was carried out by a very good surgeon and his staff have been excellent since. The staff on ward 46 were exceptional in their care for me. However my experience has been tarnished by the initial surgical mistake and the consequences.
