"Ward 62 - Gynaecology"

About: St Mary's Hospital (Manchester)

Having never had an operation before I was nervous about my stay in hospital - but what a pleasant stay I had! During xmas week I had a large ovarian cyst removed, which was straight forward and very bearable thanks to the good treatment I received.

The staff were polite, considerate & friendly. The ward was clean & bright. The general atmosphere was happy & personal, which helped me to remain positive. And I felt well informed and included in my health care.

When my district nurse wasnt able to visit me to remove my stitches,

I was very happy to return to the ward for them to be removed.

Again I was treated with kindness.

One area of improvement I could suggest - quicker delivery of pain relief. When I requested pain relief each time I waited 20mins before I received it, both during the day & night. This was due to the staff being very busy.

Many thanks to St Marys

Thank you for your comments posted on the NHS Choices / Patient Opinion website regarding your care on Ward 62.

It was very kind of you to write and compliment the staff as it is good to receive positive feedback which reflects the hard work and dedication of our staff. It was reassuring to read that you found the staff polite, considerate and friendly. In regard of your concerns about the need for quicker delivery of pain relief, I thank you for bringing this to my attention and I can advise you that the nursing team have introduced a medication round to reduce any delay in pain relief to improve the patient experience .

I can assure you that we have passed on your feedback to Mrs Pam Kilcoyne, Lead Nurse for Gynaecology and the staff involved.
