"I was very upset and felt awful"

I arrived early at 7.30am for a laparoscopic fundoplication (to relieve chronic heartburn). I went to a new theatre admission unit and I was admitted and prepared for theatre, gown, and paper pants stockings taped wedding ring. All these items were sent home with my husband. 10 hours later at 5.30pm I was sent home and told the operation was not going ahead as the surgeon’s assistant felt faint. I hadn’t been given any food or drink since the day before. Surgeon Mr Wyman came to see me to say sorry and said would ring me the next morning. By 2.30pm I had had no call, so I called his secretary and he promised me the operation would be delayed for a few more days. So I had to go back to work, they had arranged cover for me. I work as a G.P. receptionist. I was very upset and felt awful. Day of the operation came and I went in to TAU again at 7am this time I was first down at 8.30am. Everything went O.K. I was taken to the ward where the care and nurses were very good with pain relief. I was given no food until the next evening. Then another young lady was admitted for a procedure. She got in bed fully clothed and snored until 3.30am. She then went for her procedure, came back and screamed all evening and night. There were 4 visitors round her bed and they were allowed to stay until 11pm. I got no sleep for 2 nights because of this and the I was allowed to go home.
