"Over and above the call of duty"

About: Victoria Hospital / Medical Oncology

(as a carer),

I contacted ward 34 for some advice relating to my mother who has terminal cancer. The Nurse I spoke to (didn't catch her surname, but her forename is Veronica), was extremely helpful and went over and above to give me the much needed advice. She even contacted the on call team and AU1 for the relevant information and called me back to give me all the relevant advice. Over and above the call of duty. All of this in a kind, caring and compassionate manner. Many thanks Veronica.

Dear Anonfy

Thank you for taking the time to tell us about Veronica who made an effort to help you. I was sorry to hear about your mother's condition, which cannot be easy to deal with. It is good to know that when you needed to seek advice there was a member of staff who was able to assist and who made sure she got the right information back to you. We do encourage staff to take such an approach and clearly Veronica' s helpful approach was very much appreciated. I will make sure I share your post with the team and ensure Veronica gets rightful recognition for her efforts. Thanks for taking the time to tell us this.

Regards

Lousie Ewing
