"Treatment of my husband in MAU ORANGE"

About: Queen Alexandra Hospital

My husband Robert was taken by ambulance on Tuesday afternoon 18th January 2016 and admitted to A and E with a suspected seizure. He was then moved to MAU Orange where he stayed one night. He is 75 years old, blind due to radiotherapy given to him after two brain tumours and Is also disabled and a little confused. I was rather upset to hear from him today that a nurse tending him was not very pleasant towards him when the tube from his catheter kept coming out. The nurse put it back a few times and then told him that it would be the last time they would do it and blamed him for touching it which he denies. Another nurse put the tube back for him and it seems to me that maybe it wasn't done properly in the first place. My husband has suffered bad health for the last 9 years and has been in hospital on numerous occasions. To be spoken to in that way by someone who was supposed to be doing their job and looking after him, we find very upsetting and totally uncalled for!

This was the first time he had been admitted to QA as he has always been in Southampton General. Not once was he spoken to in that way by any of the staff there. They were all very kind and helpful towards him!

If you care to look at his records you will see that he has suffered a great deal since having the first tumour removed. The staff should show some some compassion.
