I arrived at the Hospital for day surgery on 5th Nov 2014. The surgery was to repair Hernia in abdomin. Everytthing seemed to go fine on the day, although for the first time in my life I suffered sickness almost immediately. Not a major problem. After the operation I could feel, what appeared to be something irritating my groin area. After about 14 days I went to my local doctors to have the dressing changed. I mentioned to them that the wound had some 'discharge', they didn't seem too concerned, telling me that was not unusual. I also mentioned that I was in some discomfort as I could feel the repair gauze moving about, again not too much concern. My main reason for concern was that the sweeling, I had before the operation was still there. It will go down when things settle down, I was told. It didn't, ever, go down. I have now been referred back to another Hospital, & am awaiting an appointment for another Hernia Operation. Although I have voiced concerns, I am in actual pain from the previous surgery, pain & discomfort I have never sufferred before. My concerns are not directed at my Doctor as they told me to contact the Hospital directly, which I did. I never got past the receptionist. Now I face further surgery with the thought in my mind that Sheffield Hospital aftercare, doesn't care.
