"My mother was a patient here on ..."

About: Manchester Royal Infirmary

(as a relative),

What I liked

My mother was a patient here on the 3rd Jan 2010 due to a transfer from Tameside hospital, as for some reason Tameside see fit to close the ENT unit over the weekend!!!. The nursing staff at MRI were of a high standard especially the nurse who was trying to arrange the transfer for my mother back to Tameside hospital from the beginning of their shift unitl we left at approx 9pm hopefully if they reads this they will know who they are, and if so i would like to thank them.

What could be improved

The transfer services.... i know the ambulance service have an extremely difficult job, but... my mother had been waiting for here transfer back to Tameside hosp. from 10.30am. At 8.30pm (YES PM, 10 HOURS LATER!!!!) after carrying out a risk assesment the Staff on the ward agreed to let me take her to Tameside Hospital myself, as they still had no idea when the ambulance would turn up. I would still like to say I in no way blame the staff from the hospital as they did their best throughout the day.

Anything else?

I am very cross at the way the transfer service works from hospital to hospital but Manchester Royal seems a very good hospital in it's self, it's clean, the staff are friendly but proffesional and i would recommend Manchester Royal Infirmary as long as you dont need a transfer to another hospital!!!
