My 101 year old fell and cut her leg on Saturday and was taken to Heartlands for treatment. We arrived about 1:30pm and finally left around 6:30pm. It took ages for her leg to be dressed. Most of the staff she saw had no bed side manner. They were surly and indifferent. Only the one of the nurses that dressed her leg even made any effort to speak to her or to give her the respect someone of her age should command.
On Tuesday evening I took her to Solihull A&E having found her scratching her leg and dislodging the dressing. The receptionist could not have been more respectful and helpful. They spoke to the staff who had Mum moved to a cubicle even before my husband had parked the car. The nurse re-dressed the wound and gave me advice on how to proceed should it need further attention. What a difference. This experience restored my faith in the NHS, thank you Solihull. (A&E does not feature on the department options below so I have opted for "don't know".
