"Fantastic hospital"

About: Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital

Would just like to let you all no on my fantastic experience at this hospital

I decided to choose this hospital as it was my closest hospital to my house I was a bit nervous as I had bad labour experience a Guildford hospital with my first baby so didn't want to go back there

I had consultant led care due to diabetes had many appointments and scans the consultants scan technicians and nurses were all fantastic in this department ended up having a great healthy pregnancy

I was induced at 38 weeks when I arrived on antenatal ward I was greated by friendly staff and shown to were I would be staying they let me settle in then came to to monitoring and explain the process of induction they made me feel very welcome and comfortable after the inducement started I was free to walk around or do what I liked inbetween monitoring the next morning my contractions became very strong I was offerd a birthing ball it was great help as they got stronger I new labour would start soon so I asked for a shower or bath they even went and run me one they came and showed us to the bathroom as I arrived I was greated by a lovely warm bath candles and relaxation music I thought this was a thoughtful touch and made me feel very relaxed

That afternoon my water went I informed midwife and they went to labour ward to arrange for me to go to delivery my labour midwife came up to antenatal to great me and show me to delivery room also nice touch loved the fact that my delivery room had a desk space/office around the corner a bit so midwife was always there but also felt like me and my partner had alone time they was all fantastic with partner too sadly my first midwife had to leave I was nervous about who I would get next as I had got to know them so I got my new midwifes I had two this time one was training I was asked if I'm OK to have trainie midwife in room I was fine with it they was both lovely after my baby was born we was both checked over and we was all left alone for a while to bond a hour later they came bk with tea and toast for us and helped me get sorted and showerd fantastic experience

I then went to post natal ward I was settled in and left alone to bond with baby they made it very clear that they was just outside room if I needed then for anything then baby was checked over by pediatrician in the morning and discharged

Absolutely brilliant services and staff highly recommended and would definitely go back again

Thank you for your feedback on our maternity services. Congratulations on the birth of your baby.

I am always delighted when I read heartfelt comments, like yours, on the care, treatment and overall experience our patients receive.

I have shared your kind words with the teams involved, who I am sure, will be greatly encouraged by them.
